      This How-To is designed to use the system without creating duplicates.  Simply, just because a client is new to you or even your agency, that doesn't mean they're new to HMIS.

      Click on the Pro Search button to review techniques used to create original clients and prevent duplicate clients in HMIS.  It's recommended to download the document and keep it for future reference.

      To complete Quiz 3.2, click the button below.  For the quiz, you'll search for clients in the HMIS ClientTrack Training Environment using "Find Client" and the "4 Search" technique.  The quiz should take 10-30 minutes to complete.

      In this practice environment, it's okay to assume that a client you find with a couple of potential mistakes (Ex., a digit wrong in a birthdate/SS# and/or a misspelled first name) is the correct client for which you are searching.  However, please note, in the live environment, if you're not able to verify a client to prevent a duplicate entry, the correct course of action is to email hmis@changinghomelessness.org, and the HMIS team for assistance. 

      Once the quiz has been submitted, you can review answers and view automatic feedback.  You must get 5 out of 8 or more questions correct to pass the quiz.  You may attempt the quiz as many times as needed to pass.

      Hint: 5 out of the 8 clients in the quiz are not in the system.  Hence, 3 of the questions have correct answer of "0".
